ODDBALL MODEL 12 C. F.

Post by idahobart »

THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ODDBALL MODEL 12 OF SOME TYPE. THE TOP OF THE BARREL IS STAMPED "MODEL 12 C. F." THE SERIAL NUMBER IS ENGRAVED 63xxx. THE SIDE CODE SAYS DR3 IN WHICH I THINK THAT MEANS MADE IN THE YEAR 1924. THERE ARE TWO RABBITS ENGRAVED ON ONE SIDE AND A SQUIRREL ON THE OTHER SIDE. THERE IS ALSO A LITTLE ENGRAVING ON 7 OF THE 8 SIDES OF THE OCTAGON BARREL. TAKES S, L, LR. I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND ANY INFO ON MODEL 12's THAT HAVE TWO LETTERS INSTEAD OF JUST ONE. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS? IDAHO BART

Why dont you post some pictures? Something out of the ordinary never suprises me about Remington. I once was offered a 12-D that had no engraving. It may have just been something the engraver decided to do. It may have been a mistake. Technically an F-grade 12 is just a 12-C with fancier wood and fancy engraving on the reciever and barrel. Yours sounds like it has all the right markings of an F-grade. It may have possibly left the factory a standard 12-C and the owner sent it back to Remington and told them to make it a F-grade. There would not have been any reason to change the barrel so they just stamped F next to the C.
