I collect, and shoot mostly older shotguns, and have decided after waiting to long to get a model 31 it is time to get a bit cheaper 870, but I prefer a pre-60 model, or at least pre-70 model.
What are the best quality guns out there, no engraving?
Is there a difference in the bluing between a field gun and top line trap gun?
Did the gun change at all over the years, I only want a blued gun.
Just curious as it seems when the economy goes bad, firearms and related items go up.
Thanks,
Bob

Re: Model 870
If your interested in a 870's I would considering getting hard copy of "A Guide To Collecting Remington Model 870 Shotguns" which is in the 1st Quarter 2005 journal, you can get information to order a back issue here: http://remingtonsociety.com/rsa/journals/purchaseRpR wrote:I collect, and shoot mostly older shotguns, and have decided after waiting to long to get a model 31 it is time to get a bit cheaper 870, but I prefer a pre-60 model, or at least pre-70 model.

Did they change? In 1950 they introduced 15 different versions alone, there's more changes over the years then you can count on all your relatives fingers and toes!
I believe the current increase in modern firearm demand (pricing) is more due to the Presidential election results then people worried about the necessity to protect their family and possessions due to a bad economy while the sustained or increased values of antique guns is investors looking for alternatives to the stock market in a falling economy.
