870: Turkey Loads

Post by BigBlue89Bronco »

I have an 870 express, with out the super mag receiver, and a barrel stamped for 2 3/4 or 3" shells.

Can I use the Premier High Velocity Magnum Turkey loads of a 3" length?

I know the gun can cycle the 3" shell, but can the receiver handle the load?

It's a 3" chamber and a 3" shell, why would you be worried? The industry sets pressure limits based on the chambering. The 3-1/2" Super Mag system is rated for higher pressures. The receiver in the 870 design doesn't really see much stress from the fhell firing in any event, because the bolt locks directly to the barrel extension.
What could have happened... did.

I guess im getting "super mag" and "magnum" mixed. I was just worried about the "magnum" part of the load
