I just pulled my brother-in-law's model 721 out of the gun case where it has been since he passed away in 1976. It has .270 printed on the barrel and a code on the other side of RFP.
I take it that the .270 is the cal of the ammo. Where can I find out what the RFP code is or does anyone know that information? Also the serial # is 126923.

You can estimate the rifles date from the serial number list here

The RFP is a proof test mark. You should have someone with expertise check it out having been stored in a case so long. Often the case will draw dampness and promote surface rust. I certainly hope for it to be ok. The 270 indicates calibre .270 Winchester. A great cartridge.
