Don't seem to get a lot of action around here do we.
As for barrel removal, the first step is to completely disassemble the rifle. At this point you should have an idea on the amount of rust & crud is in the innards. Next step would be to soak the barrel & completely stripped action in some very strong rust removal solvent/penetrating oil. the barrel & action have been "married" a long time & do not wish to be seperated. How long? you need to decide. from here on out it is not a job for faint of heart or lacking proper tools. Preferably you need an action wrench that fits the RB action and a barrel vise. If the barrel is not going to be saved an alternate method would be to place the action in a regular machinists vice WITH LOTS OF PADDING & TOTAL SUPPORT, and use a pipe wrench to remove the barrel. Plan on using a "cheater" on the action or pipe wrench.
Obviously the danger is the possible breaking or bending the action.
If you do not have the tools, never removed a barrel before, or find that with minimal torque on the wrench there seems to be no "give" to the barrel, best case is pay a professional gunsmith to do the job for you.
(mine would not even begin to move with the amount of torque normally used to remove old mauser barrels and 3 weeks soaking in a commercial grade solvent so I sent my barreled action to Lone Star Rifle Co. for a new barrel)
Hope you get it done before obama bin biden get their new world order gestapo/kgb up and running.

Thanks Charlie !! You are so right - no activity here..... I will start the long soak process as soon as I get back from taking it up to Remington next week. Invited to tour by the CEO, and he said he will have the historian look at it ( its the strangely marked one in my previous post ).
