Remington Targetmaster.

My rifle was removed from my residence without permission years ago. It looked like the image except the bolt receiver plug is shaped like a beehive and the pin goes through it when cocked. It had a smooth stock that is very similar to the picture it had a sling as well as a rocking safety trigger on the right side. Mine had a metal colored barrel and it fired .22 long, short or long rifle bullets. I think it must be the Model 41 Targetmaster or the Remington 580-581-582 Bolt 22 Rifle.

It sounds like a "500 Series". The 510 is a single shot - 511 has a removable magazine (clip) - The 512 has a magazine tube under the barrel.
