just bought an 1100..confused on the barrel length?

Post by weider1717 »

I assumed it was a 26" barrel but it measures 25 something...

I would have to get it out and measure it again but it was over 25" but less than 26"

whats the deal?

also do you measure a barrel on just the exposed part or do you take the barrel off and include that 1/2" of so thats not visible when the barrel is on?

does anyone know of a site or know off hand what the ACTUAL measuremeant of a remintgon 1100 barrel is? btw mine is a older 1100 it isn't the new looking ones mine would be like a 1980's gun if I had to make a guess. It has the fancy checkered wood work.

The barrel length is measured from the face of the bolt to the end. Stick a dowel down the barrel with the action closed and mark it and measure that, or disassemble the gun and measure from the back of the breech, not the barrel extension. I have a 1963, and 26" and 28" were the same then as they are now.
What could have happened... did.

ok i took the barrel off and measured from the breech to the tip of the barrel and it measures 25 & 5/8"

is this correct for a 26" barrel?
