22 rolling block octagon barrel ??

Post by shooter81 »

I recently inherited a Remington .22 Rolling block with octagon barrel, I think its a # 4, but not really sure. # on barrel is J192547. There is also "22" and an "S" stamped on the barrel.

I have attached a couple of pics. I would GREATLY appreciate if someone could tell me exactly what this rifle is, its manufacture date, and its approx. value. Thank you.

Nice No. 4! You very seldom see one with a tang peep sight...

Factory records places your rifle in 1908, but the records on the Nos 4 & 6 were "reconstructed" in later years. My guess would be between 1908 and 1910.
