Models 12 & 121

Post by John Gyde »

In another post it was mentioned that they would like to see more about collecting Remingtons. OK... How many of you have a M/12 (A or C) in 22 LR only (most have a steel inner mag tube)? Or a M12-C (not 12-B) in 22 Short? Or a M/12-A in 22 short? Or a M/12-A in smoothbore? Or a M/121 in 22 short?

These were all made, but not very many of any of them... I'm still looking for the M/12-C in 22 short and the smoothbore.

I was once offered a Model 12 stamped on the barrel Model 12-D. It was far from a Deluxe grade or any other higher grade. I blew it off thinking that someone at one time replaced a high grade barrel on a standard 12-C. Have you ever ran across this? Does my theory sound correct. I have a 12-C in 22 LR only. It has a flat crown and a very brief barrel stamping.

Another mystery. Unless it had a standard finger grooved fore-end and a little engraving it probably wasn't a "D" grade. My "D"s are not stamped with the model #. One has the serial # engraved on the receiver. The others I have seen have stamped serial #s.
