Iron sights

Are the sights on the 700 the same for standard calibers and magnums or are they different heights

They will be the same sight. There will be differant style sight for differant year of manufacture. I dont know your situation but it is quite common that someone installing a newer style sight on earlier rifles.

I have a gun with no sights on it and I don't want to put a scope on so wanted to make sure there were no differance

Keep in mind if you want to keep the rifle original. There are two differant style sights depending on what year your gun was made..(If that even matters to you)

It's for a model 742 from 1981 I thinkare those the same as what came on the 700
