Information about Model 6 rifle wanted

I am a newbie and a complete novice when it comes to guns. My father gave me a rifle that belonged to his father before him, and I would like to learn about when it was made and the range of its approximate value. Is this the correct place for that?

The rifle is a Remington Model 6 with serial # 373175 imprinted on the underside of the stock.

Any information anyone can provide me with about this rifle would be greatly appreciated.

Your M/6 was made in 1924, give or take a year or two. It should have a two letter barrel code stamped on the bottom of the barrel. Check Barrel Codes in this site for the month and year of production. The M/6 was made from 1901-1928 with an estimated 458,600 being produced. The original retail price was $5.
