I have a nice old model 30 Express in 30/06, and I want to find when it was manufactured.
The rules don't seem to fit this rifle. On the left side of the barrel and immediately in front of the receiver is stamped "30 Springfield 1906". It is unaltered and in very good condition with approx. 90%+ original finish. Barrel, stock et al are original.
Same spot on the right side of the barrel are letters REP, then 3 proof marks, then the letter T. It is a low serial no. 8xxx on the left side of action.
Any information is appreciated. Thanks

R E P stands for Remington English Proofed.
Re: Date of manufacture model 30 Express
Thank you Tbury & John for your replies.
My model 30 Express is only a couple hundred lower than yours Tbury. Does your 30 have the letters (date marks) on the left of the barrel next to the receiver? I'm curious to know if I have the only 30 that doesn't seem to follow the usual rules for determining the date of manufacture.
Thanks
