I bought a Remington 1903. The build date stamped on the barrel is 9/42. I was reading in a book that Remington did not make any 1903's. Only the 1903A3 and the 1903A4.
The reciever is marked Remington model 1903, and has the 1903 ladder rear sight. So it is a 1903.
What I want to know is my book wrong, and Remington make a boat load of 1903's, or is this a rare item?
Remington 1903?
Re: Remington 1903?
Starting in 1941 Remington did make 1903's. Around 1200 were produced. They should bring a premium. Jay Huber RSA
Re: Remington 1903?
Thanks for the info. I am going to bring it in and get it appraised.
Re: Remington 1903?
Just out of curiousity, what author made the statement that Remington did not make any 1903s?
Re: Remington 1903?
It was in a 1903 handbook that I bought after I bought the rifle. I don't remember who makes it. But they print up handbooks for alot of the older rifles.

Re: Remington 1903?
Interesting sprinde where did you get your information? I am always learning something new about Remington on this site. I guess that makes me wrong in saying the Remington 03 should bring a premium other than I think an 03 generally brings more money than an 03A3. What do you think?
