Need information on a Derringer based on its marking

Post by GIC06 »

Hello All,
I am writing from France. I have a Derringer .41 with the marking done in two lines as follows:

E REMINGTON & SONS, ILION. N. Y.
ELLIOT S PATENT DEC 12 1866

It bears the serial number 194.

Could you tell me what model (or type) it is? And what is (roughly) its year of manufacture.

Thank you,

This is a Type I Second Model which is easily identified since it is the only model with the two lines on top, commonly referred to as a "Two-Line". This model is believed to have been produced from 1868-1887 in two runs/batches so this is not a serial no but a batch no., therefore it's not possible to narrow down the date of manufacture further then this twenty years.
