Old Cartridge

Anyone hear of a cartridge called the 38 AMU. It was made by rem-umc probably 40-50 years ago. It looks like a 38 special that had the rim removed & an extractor groove cit into the case. Any help would be appreciated.

The 38 amu is just a 38 speciel with the rim removed. Winchester and remington both made them. The amu letters came from ADVANCED ARMY MARKSMANSHIP UNIT. Smith ans Wesson made a gun for it the smith and wesson model 52. The bullet didnt really last very long.
