That barrel is from an earlier period than your receiver. The barrels during the Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Company and The Remington Arms Union Metallic Cartridge Co., Inc. period, 1911-1920, had the serial number stamped to be visible from the right side of the gun.

From the beginning, through this era the serial number on the receiver was on the bottom, ahead of the loading port, with the inventory letter U. Also the proof stamp on the right side of the barrel was R.P. in an oval.

During much of this period the barrels were marked MODEL 10 and the grade letter --

The serial number remained on the bottom of the receivers for a while after the 1920 formation of Remington Arms Co., Inc., --

I haven't narrowed down when the moved the serial number from the bottom of the receiver to the left side along with the Remington Trademark logo and MODEL 10, but it is somewhere between the 215xxx and 232xxx range. The engraved guns Tournament, Expert and Premier grades always had the serial number on the bottom of the receiver. Also, the C "Trap" Grade and S "Trap Special" Grade had Trap Grade on the action bar --
