I have a 12ga double barrel made by Remington Arms Co., Ilion, NY that I would like to date and ballpark value. It is a 30" Damascus barrel (47" overall length) with exposed hammers, origingal wood and but plate. The serial number is 85701. It also has what appears to be "PO2" stamped on the underside of each barrel just ahead of the flats. On the receiver, ahead of the 85701 serial number is a lone number "2". Also on the receiver is what looks like "13S" and perpendicular to that in smaller font is "4 4"
Thanks in advance for any help available.
Bobby

Re: Damascus 12ga Double Barrel
Another question about this gun.
I had been shooting it with standard field loads (such as Winchester 1145 FPS Velocity) until I was told that I shouldn't be shooting the gun at all. Any thoughts?

Re: Damascus 12ga Double Barrel
Thanks RemRB for the information. Both barrels are in very good shape inside and out. It is great to hear that it is okay to keep using it. I have been using 2 3/4 loads in it all along without any problems. I do have some decent pictures of it that I tried to upload but was informed they exceeded the size limit for this forum.
How were you able to determine the model (1889) and manufacture date (1898)?
