rookie mod-12 q and a
hi all, am new to this site so please forgive me if i ask questions that have been answered before. have mainly collected milsurp stuff up til buying a model 14 from a board-member here and have the bug now. anyway, i just got a model 12 .22 pump ser# 7931xx that i have some questions about. it has 12c features .. 24'" octagon barrel, pistol grip crescent butt stock, 22s l and lr. but the reciever is simply marked model 12. is this common ? fom what i have gathered with info here rifle was made in 1931, but barrel code is ly whih puts it in 1930. also the #s on butt and buttplate match each other, but not gun. were these assembly numbers ? top and bottom of reciever do match. thank you.

The receiver marked only Model 12 is proper for the year of production.
The numbers on the butt plate are often off by a few hundred. The butt stock is not usually marked.
Use the barrel code for date of assembly. The serial #s provided by the factory are often off by a few years. Those records were put together at a later date from the best records available.
