First chamber-cast, can't figure the chambering

Post by Skamnakias »

Hoping that someone with a lot more knowledge on Rolling Blocks can help me with this question.
Have a mystery Danish/Greek? Rolling Block and finally got around to chamber-casting (my first) with Cerrosafe.
After the obligatory one-hour cooling period I took the following measurements and I'm no closer than I was before in determining the round it's chambered for...
Fair-warning, it's my first time and some measurements way be slightly off primarily the total length one. Pic attached, all measurements in inches and thanks in advance for your assistance.

I'm drawing a blank on those dims. I may have a couple books that will help if I can locate them. If the gun can be identified that will help. If the barrel has been changed or set back then it's a possibility that the cartridge is a wildcat.

The chamber cast looks pretty good. A little less warming of the chamber area prior to casting should eliminate the frosted look. Too cold and wrinkles will show.

I think the dims attributed to the Lands and Grooves are reversed, no big deal in this circumstance. The cast gives a reversed image.

Thank you Mainspring, appreciate your comments. You are correct, the dimensions for lands and grooves are reversed, thanks for pointing that out.
The rifle I have is a mishmash of parts, I think I will post some pics of it and solicit some help identifying it.

With the exception of length it matches closely to 11.43 Egyptian, but length is closer to .43 Spanish Reformado. I wonder if it started life as the Egyptian and someone ran a .44-77 BN reamer in to open up the length?
