Hello folks, good afternoon!
I have this old riffle made in 1915. There is an odd lug at the front of the receiver and a void indicated under the handguard. I saw some models have a round wooden boss to stabilize the barrel. My guess is that there is a missing part (a tang that better stabilized the barrel), but that's just the best theory I can come up with.
If somebody have some information to share I really apreciate. I can send some pictures .
Thanks in advance.

A lever takedown model I have has a circular wooden lug on the rear of the for-end that locates in a hole in the front of the receiver to assist alignment of the barrel. The fore-end is attached to the barrel by a single screw.

Exactly, but the model I have is different. Unfortunately, I did not find anything similar online.
Now I figured out how to attach photos. I’ve attached two figures showing my model.
