I inherited a Remington double from my father that he always called a Model 1900, but it is marked as an AE grade with barrels marked “Ordnance Steel”. I assume it is actually an 1894? It’s in very good to excellent antique condition but was apparently factory ordered for a smaller man or a woman… the original stock is short!
In addition, I picked up what I believe is the most basic Model 1900 with the Remington steel barrels. It’s also in pretty good shape, but the stock is fairly rough. So I am posting this to inquire of the assembled wisdom of the group as to who offers basic restocking at an affordable price. I see advertisements for semi-inletted stocks, but my woodworking skills are limited to carving toothpicks, etc.
Neither gun has a great deal of collector value but Dad’s has been in the family for 70+ years and is great for upland birds and the other one has longer barrels for waterfowl, etc. so they could make a pretty useful pair.

Re: Restocking 1894/1900 Doubles
First of all the S/N for 1894s start with 1 while the 1900s start with 3.
The stocks for both are nearly the same differing in checkering and wood quality. The forearms are different.
Semi insetted stocks take some skill but can be useful therapy.

On the first gun just add a slip on pad as these add an inch to length. On the second get a semi inleted stock and use it as it comes or spend some time getting a closer fit.
