I have a Remington 1889 10 gauge in the 78xxx range. The barrels have been cut down
professionally to 22.5 inches, super case color, close to mirror bores, wood vg, possibly
overcoated at some time but not sanded, knurling as new- obviously not used much. Grade 1
with 90% barrel brown remaining. I'm a little new to shotgun collecting, any help with the markings woud be appreciated.
1.right lug "32"
left lug "37" ... the choke arraingement before it was chopped? what was it?
2. ea barrel stamped "P" and 1 Z......... nitro proof ?
3. " I.F & COS EX " stamped on water table and under lugs. one "s" is backwards so i
suppose the letters were individually stamped. Express co of some sort ? might explain the
coach gun configuration, but this is in much, much better shape than any coach gun i
ever saw, most were beat to death. Thanks!
