I have posted this on the Post 1898 side but no results yet. Thought help would be more available here. I have a Model 1900 KE and the forend is not as tight as it should be. Slight pressure on the tip will cause it to spring loose. That's the first problem. While trying to find the cause, I ended up with the forend off and the hammers dropped. Can anyone tell me how to cock the hammers? Also, does anyone have any suggestions on how to tighten up the forend? I'm desperate and would really appreciate any help!

1900 forend problems
Re: 1900 forend problems
I got the hammers cocked and discovered that I am missing a latch spring that goes under the J hook. Any ideas where I can find one?
Re: 1900 forend problems
Tony, I can help you with your problem I also think latch spring is short the forend should stay on without the small spring it just holds the latch spring up in place to put forend on barrels. Turn the gun upside down catch the spring on barrel lug should snap in place if it does not snap, it is to short..
Re: 1900 forend problems
Tony, You called the J spring I called it latch spring I want to know so we understand????
Re: 1900 forend problems
Thanks for your reply, 2shooter. Yes, I think we are talking about the same part. The part that is missing is the small spring that holds the latch upright. The latch may be too short as you suggest. I will try tonight and let you know.
