Importing Antique Rolling Blocks

Post by yellow-dog1959 »

New to the RSA and happy to be.
I have several RB's including a Navy framed 1901. When I acquired the pistol there was quite a bit of gymnastics between NY State and ATF definitions of "Antique". ATF advised that a frame manufactured pre-1899 and re-made post 1899 remains an antique. NY State defines otherwise as the pistol is chambered for ammunition that is readily available on the commercial market (.22LR).
Fast forward to today, I am interested in importing a re-made 1901 (1871 Army frame) and of course Customs and Border Patrol must be navigated to pass into the US. The item will be shipped to an FFL and transferred from there.

I am getting ready to send eForm 6 to ATF with the expectation they will declare "No License Required" or "No Permit Required" in hopes that will make CBP happy to pass through.

Does anyone have experience or guidance with importing antique framed and post-antique re-made articles into the US??

Rocket Aviation in Plainview, TX closed its maintenance shop in 2021 for the Bellanca line of aircraft. Does anyone know of a shop in Texas that can do work on wood or antique aircraft?
