Hello,
I have a Remington model 1900 side by side shotgun serial number Q394616. I have two questions. First, from my research I'm guessing it was manufactured in 1910. Is it possible to confirm that? Second, the shotgun is missing its front sight. Can you direct me to where I may be able to obtain one?
Thanks,
Michael Dye

Yes it was placed in service in 1910.
Is the hole for the front sight present or have the barrels been shortened? I don't think an original sight can be found unless you can take one off a scrape barrel from another 1900 or 1894. However, you might try Dixie Gun Works for a sight that can be adapted.

Q394616 is the highest Model 1900 serial number I've heard of. The serial number chronology that the late Charles Semmer constructed from surviving shipping records for his book Remington Double Shotguns goes up to 398508.

Remington going on to face the future with their John M. Browning designed autoloader and their John D. Pedersen designed pump.

This German silver bead was the normal front sight found on Remington Hammerless Doubles --

Thanks everyone. dieNusse1, yes the hole is present for the sight.

I have an extra 1889 barrel which has a front sight. I assume it's the same as found on a 1900. If I can remove it safely you can have it.
Suggestions for removing it. Heat?
