Just Another New Guy

I just registered and thought I’d introduce myself. My real name is Charlie, but I use the nom de plume, “Green Frog” on quite a few websites and fora, so I figured I should use it here too. For those of you who have seen me elsewhere, I’m the same old “Froggie”.

I’ve joined here because of a renewed interest in Remington hammerless doubles. I grew up shooting one owned by my father, from whom I have now inherited it, and purchased another along with an orphan set of steel barrels (apparently “R”) at an auction. I’ve been busy with single shot rifles (ASSRA), Smith & Wesson handguns, and various Rugers as well as collecting old reloading tools.

What really piqued my interest here was that I discovered the Charles Semmer book on the Remington Doubles. I know, I’m slow… it’s been out about 25 years! My copy from an eBay vendor arrived today, voila, here I am. I might also mention that I have owned and shot several Lefever Nitro Specials over the years, and still have a 12 and a 20 ga, as well as Marlin Model 90 OU guns, currently a 16, a 20, and a 410. I haven’t been totally ignoring the field of shotguns.

Anyway, I hope to join in with this group, share the little I know and learn from your collective knowledge. I specialize in the strange and obscure.
