What year do I have.
I have my great uncles double barrel 12 gauge. Found a number 54128. Any idea what year this was made? Pretty sure it’s a model 1889. Is that the year? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Thanks

While no production records for the Remington Arms Co. doubles have been found, the late Charles Semmer assembled a chronology from surviving shipping records for his book Remington Double Shotguns. That chronology would put 54128 as an 1893 gun. The Model 1889 was the only hammer double made by Remington Arms Co. All earlier hammer doubles were made by E. Remington & Sons.
