Barrel date codes

Post by Marbles 427 »

Hi all,
Picked up a nice condition model 600 in .308 this week.
Just trying to decipher the barrel date codes.
I think the B P is January 1967 and the V is an inspectors mark or assembly mark.
Not sure what the 88 to the left of the date code means.
Hopefully not that a repair was done.
If so, is there any way to determine what type repair was done?
Thanks in advance.

Your dating is correct. Your rifle is unmolested. Clean then keep the trigger clean and dry. Don't let barrel fluids run into the action and trigger. Practice safe handling and all will be well.
