MODEL 14 RIFLE WITH THREADED MUZZLE ??

Post by BUSSMAN69 »

Recently decided to acquire a Model 14 rifle in every caliber. Want all of them to be in original factory, as issued condition. I have run across a couple of different rifles and a carbine with threaded and capped muzzles on the barrel ?? Was this a factory option in the 20's and 30's ?? Or is this something that BUBBA did at some point and time ? Thanks in advance for any input on this topic.

I don't know if it was a factory option. Silencers were available in that era, Maxim being a big name.

I had a 1903 Winchester automatic rifle that was threaded and had the cap soldered in place.

Thanks for the reply guys. Unfortunately, nobody on here can tell me for sure if threaded muzzles were ever a factory option or not. I am aware of the Maxim suppressors that were available in the 30's. But I doubt that they were popular or common enough for the factory to thread the muzzles of the Model 14 rifles for them. But I have come across 3 of them now that have threaded and capped muzzles. So it will still remain a mystery I guess.

It might have been more of a service that Remington provided, rather than an option.
