I recently was given a Remington model 141 gamemaster that is drilled and tapped for a scope mounts. I have never seen scope mounting screws that are set up in this sort of configuration. Does anyone have an idea of what mount this is configured for?
As you can see the holes are set up perpendicular to the barrel and there is a matching set under the peep sight.

Re: Rem 141 scope mount
The term "Saddle Mount" is often associated with this type of scope mount hole pattern.

Re: Rem 141 scope mount
Thank you all for the replies and info. Does anyone have a part number/model number for those rings?
Re: Rem 141 scope mount
They sort of look like Redfield JR rings used on early military scopes. Best source of finding that type of info (part number/make) is old Gun Digests & Shooter's Bible. You can start by dating your rifle, then find a Shooter's Bible of the same year, and would think they were still making them at that point in time.
About 20 years ago I just started saving scope mount pics off Gunbroker and other auction sites thinking it might be useful to match up a mount with screw holes on the side/top of 14/141 frames. It apparently served some useful purpose.
See ya!

Re: Rem 141 scope mount
Ref info on mounts for the 141 rifle pictured, as mentioned they are old Weaver mounts. The ones you need are weaver numbers Q30 (front mount) & Q29 (rear mount). I have also seen them numbered U29 & U30. The rings & the mounts are one piece. See pics, hopefully this helps if still needed.
