Model 700 barrel code confusion

I am rather new to trying to decipher a barrel code and have tried my best to use all the resources before asking for help. The code on my passed down Model 700 doesn’t look like what I have seen pictures of across multiple sources. Could someone give me a hand on trying to figure this out. My best guess is that 2nd character “W” for August and fourth character “P” for 1967 or 1995. If the date is correct how can you tell which year it actually is? However there are other characters both before and in between. 1st character “U” and the 3rd character looks like a backwards “J” or incomplete “U” on the second leg up. I have added pictures. Thank you for help on this.

U-1971 (confirmed by serial number era)
P-assembler.

What caliber is said rifle? The barrel and receiver dating are a little wonky but not unheard of.
