14 1/2 carbine

I just purchased a 14 1/2 carbine in 38-40 and I have a few questions.

Serial number on receiver and slide is 70394, but on trigger housing 12896. Is this normal?

I have several model 14's and 14 1/2's. They all have the holes drilled and tapped for a tang sight. My new one does not. Is this normal?

Mixed numbers are not normal. First year m14's were not drilled , 14 1/2 I am not sure about. Have you checked for proper feeding with cartridges ? Mixed guns quite often have feeding issues.
