Can anyone confirm what the Model 1100 starting serial number was? My recollection is that it started with 1001V. Is this correct?
Thank you!

Awesome thank you! That's a really good article. My Grandpa bought his 1100 new in February 1963, number 1557V. He passed it down to me, along with the original receipt!
Re: Model 1100 starting serial number
Nothing is absolute when it comes to Remington rollmarking. I have seen two (2) Model 1100s with completely bare receivers. No scroll, no serial numbers, nothing. The woodwork was typical 1963 vintage. Only Remingtons I ever saw with no serial numbers.
What could have happened... did.

The bare receivers were set aside for the D and F grades to be hand engraved.

But all the higher grade ones I have ever see still had serial numbers in the usual location.

Here is the original purchase receipt. He purchased a replacement barrel a few years later.
