#1 Rolling Block Man. Date

I have a #1 Rolling block Serial #5547. Chambered in .44-77 with a 26" barrel, OAL is 43".
I was hoping someone here could help pin down the year it was manufactured.

What is the barrel rollstamp? Is it E. Remington & Sons, or Remington Arms?

The barrel is stamped: E. Remington & Sons

The first approximately 1400 were round tops, and around #1400 the octagon top was introduced. The Creedmoor rifles date to 1875 and are in the low 3000 serial number range, with a few early exceptions.
Just an educated guess based on the 1886 date when they went bankrupt, and came back with a different rollstamp afterwards. I'd guess your serial number will likely be made around 1880-1881 era.

I'm not absolutely positive the I have a #1 or a #1 1/2. I'm a greenhorn in the SS world, but really getting into it.
Can anyone tell from the pictures I posted? Marlinman93?

I'd say that is a #1 as evidenced by the rebate at the top of the receiver sides. The 1-1/2 models are a little thinner and smooth sided.

And the #1 1/2 was never chambered in longer rifle cartridges either.
