Think it’s a Remington 1858. Help
Think it’s a Remington 1858. Help
This was given to me to sell or buy myself but I know nothing of BP arms. I believe it to be a Remington 1858. I really need help identifying what it is and what I should pay or help the owner sell it for. I have attached as many pics as I thought would be helpful in the identification process. If anything else is needed please ask.

More pics to help identify this BP pistol. Not sure where any other markings may be. Thank you all in advance.

Re: Think it’s a Remington 1858. Help
Hello,
Welcome to the RSA site, The pistol is a New Model Army. The bad news is that it has been re-blued, the trigger guard polished, the front sight replaced, the barrel replaced, the nipples replaced, and the grips replaced. The BBL serial, 104515 and the frame and trigger guard serial 106454 were both made in October 1864. The gun has marks from US sub-inspectors, so the gun was part of a US contract. I have no idea what the marking on the cylinder pin means, but it appears to have a crown.
At this point, the gun is a nice shooter, or a great display piece, but it has lost all collector value because of the mixed numbers, and all the modifications. We do not give any value estimates on this site, because we can't inspect the gun personally, and because of all the variables involved.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Daniel

Re: Think it’s a Remington 1858. Help
Thank you for the info. I'm debating on what to do with it. I built a display case for this and another pistol that was given to me. So might try to sell as a pair. I just don't know what to even ask for them as I know nothing at all about these pistols.
