Remington 14

Hi everyone. Im new to this site and wondering if you can fill me in on some information on a remington model 14 my grandfather willed me.

I see a lot of Model 14 questions on here but none as basic as mine. Firstly, I was wondering what year approximately it was produced the serial number is #120711. Secondly, is there an eqaul to or equivalent ammo I can still buy here in Ontario to use in this firearm.

its a 30 a forgot to put that part in. Ive had nothing to do with re loading. It seems to be a dieing art around here. I do though have a lot of interest in it. If I could find someone willing to teach me how to locally I would for sure at least try it.
Someone once told me a 30-30 Winchester will fire fine out of the remington. I just dont want to try it in case something happens to the gun.
I plan on using it for this falls white tail hunt.
I do however have 4 full boxes of ammo for the firearm. But they are as old as the gun itself. Not to sure on how trustworthy that ammunition is either.

I just shot a box of 30 year old Remington Core-lokd ammo at the range this week and the biggest group was 1.25 inches at 50 yards with open sights. (2.5 MOA - not bad for factory sights and bad eyes) I had some trepedations about the ammo not being as good as new, but my fears have subsided.
