Help dating Remington RB

Hi, I just picked up this Remington Rolling Block today. Got it on a trade plus $60 for a Bersa Firestorm.

I'm wondering what the model / date is? If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Seems to be in really solid condition. It appears to be 45-70.

It is a New York State rolling block rifle, used by the New York National guard from approximately 1872 to 1897. Approximately 15,000 were ordered in 50-70, very, very few were made in 45-70. You will need to do a chamber cast to determine which one it is.

Hi There,

You might remove the steel butt plate and see if
anything is stamped in the wood. Buffalo ordered
rifles of the same pattern used by N.Y. state but
in 45-70. These were stamped with "BCG" for
Buffalo City Guard.

Thanks so much. Here's the images of the bands and butt plate. I'll have to remove the butt plate to see underneath.

The bore is near mirror finish with some left-over residue.

showing this was one of the New York State Militia rifles.
