I was visiting a local on-line auction this afternoon, and was the unsuccessful bidder on what I was really interested in. However, I was watching as this Model 512 came up (with Lyman Sites) and picked it up for what I hope was a decent price. My question is this, it was old enough that it does not have a serial number. Anyone want to take a stab at the date of the rifle? Any other comments on it, I’ve never owned a bolt action 22.

Remington 512 - No SN ??
Re: Remington 512 - No SN ??
Model 512s had serial #s only through 1941. You can find two or three digits (letters) code on the left side of the barrel near the receiver that will give you the month/year of production. A total of 393,665 were produced ending in December 1962.

Look at "Manufacture Dates" on this site and the code giving the month/year of production is shown.
