Remington Stocks
Remington Stocks
It occurs to me that nearly all Remington pump and auto, rifle and shotgun stocks may be interchangeable with little modification. The only significant difference may be the lack of a trigger guard cutout on some early models. So, a Model 1100 stock might be made to fit a later Model 31 - and similar substitutions might be made. Can anyone verify or deny this?
Well, that's not much of an answer. Furniture for older models can be very hard to find - or very expensive. It would be nice to know what substitutions or modifications will work. For example, the 1100 stock is compatible with the SPT 12, 11-87, and 11-48. A 1100 12 gauge stock can be modified to fit a 16 gauge or 20 gauge 1100 or 11-48. A Model 870 12 gauge stock is compatible with a Sportsman 58, 78, and a Model 31 pump. It's easy to reduce the outer dimensions of the stock where it meets the receiver when fitting a 12 gauge stock to a 20 gauge gun, but the angle of the rear plate of the receiver determines DOC and DOH. That may change from one model gun to another.
