From the description you have given, your rifle could not have been made in 1934. You are discribing an old model 14 with the steel shotgun butt plate and a solid ammunition indicator. It is only a guess, but I would say your rifle was made prior to 1920.
The standard barrel for a 14 rifle is 22" (carbine 18"). The ammunition indicator it not a case shellhead and never had a primer. They were made fron solid brass barstock. In ther early 20ies Remington changed it by drilling out the center. This is why some Model 14s have a hole in them. The reason for the ammuntion indicator in the first place is to cover a locating hole used in the manufacturing process.
I do not reload the 25 Rem caliber but I can tell you the OAL is very important. If you can find the spects of the factory ammo, I would use them. One final obsevation, do not use pionted bullets. Best of luck.

A 25 Rem is on it's way!
Prior to production the Model 14 was known as the "C" rifle. At production it became the Model 14. The "C" was used in the serial number untill the location of the serial number was moved to the left side of the receiver. At that time the "C" was left out. The model 14 never had a model name. It remained the Model 14 untill the 141(GAMEMASTER) replaced it. The phrase Model 14 was placed on the side of the receiver along with the serial number.
If you want to know about Remington firearms, don't just join the forum, join the RSA. After I becamea member and went to the historical seminars I met several researchers who had gatherd more data than I had in over twenty years of research. The Remington Society publishes a Journal by the quarter. It is worth the money for membership just to get the Journal. Most books concerning Remington firearms have been published by RSA members. The Model 25 should have a date code on the left side of the barrel. Go to the "HOME" page and look under Dates OF Manufacture.
The butt plate on a 14 made in 1920 should be one of three types; 1. shotgun steel, 2. rifle smooth with UMC on it, 3. it is possible that it might have a rifle plate with serrations running from side to side. All steel plates were blued.
