My dad just past down, Grandads model 11 and I was curious when it was made. I have tried looking up the serial number with no luck, I did find the letters PP on the barrel which would have it being built in 1945, the serail number is 988xx can anyone help me date the year it was made. Thanks

What is the company name on the gun? According to the best available serial number chronology 988xx would be a 1910 vintage gun (82043 to 101714). In 1910, the company name on the gun should be Remington Arms Co. and the gun would be a Remington Autoloading Shotgun. Is Model 11 marked anywhere on the gun? In 1911, Marcellus Hartley Dodge combined his arms and ammunition companies as Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. In the Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. 1911-12 catalog they began calling this John M. Browning designed shotgun the Model No. 11.
