I also have a 1890. This appears to be the true 1890 with the 5 3/4 barrel. My question is on the serial number. It is 994 with a “D” next to it. I am pretty sure it was made in 1893 but I can’t find any information in which the “D” means.
Lastly, more fun question. On the 1890 at the top of the handle on the right edge between the handle and cylinder are 4 obvious file marks into the edge. What do you think they mean?

Re: Question on 1890 Revolver
Is it an 1890? Is the barrel marking E. Remington & Sons, or Remington Arms? The mainspring is incorrect. The web doesn't look quite right. But, that may be my eyes.
The file marks could mean just about anything that your imagination can come up with. The usual is that the gun has 4 bodies on it, but it could be 4 gun fights, or 4 major trips, or 4 deer killed, or 4 ... ?
