Hi,
Your revolver was manufactured in October of 1863. There are no records by serial number of where they were shipped. They were manufactured at one of Remington’s two Armories at either Ilion or Utica, New York.

Rich,
The Ilion on the barrel is a part of the barrel address not the Armory where the revolver was manufactured. There is no way to determine which Armory made the revolver. The A is a government inspection mark and several of them are usually found on the major parts of the revolver. I have seen them on the barrel, frame, cylinder, loading lever, trigger guard and sometimes on the bottom of the grips. Sometimes there is more than one letter on a part. Most of the time there are different letters on a revolver because different inspectors inspected different parts. Once the revolver had been inspected the Principal sub-inspector stamped his cartouche on the left grip indicating the revolver had been accepted by the Ordinance Department. A revolver with no inspection marks means it was sold to someone other than the Ordinance Department.
