Remington Model 12 Questions
Re: Remington Model 12 Questions
Your M/12-A was made in 1910. The letters you mentioned are not a date code. They are inspector/proof/testing stamps. The date codes were not used until 1921. The long tang configuration on the butt stock, rear sight and caliber stamp of "Long Rifle" are correct for 1910 production. Please use only standard velocity ammo if you shoot it.
Re: Remington Model 12 Questions
I had a two digit serial # M/12 and only received a slight premium when I sold it. Yours appears to be in good condition and does not appear to have any added parts. The butt plate should not have UMC stamped with the Rem stamp. From the photos it looks like yours may have been reblued. If so, the collector value would decrease significantly.
