Remington Arms Co.

Post by Researcher »

In adding to my stash of Remington Arms Co. catalogues that cover my beloved Model 1894s, I just bought a 1909 off ebay. The catalogue is the same size and has the same covers as my 1908 (60 pages) and my 1908-09 (64 pages), but this 1909 is only 36 pages and only contains the "Repeating Shotgun", the "Autoloading Gun", and the "Autoloading Repeating Rifle"! I'd always been led to believe that Remington made the Model 1894s and Model 1900s to 1910. Is there another 1909 Remington Arms Co. catalogue that includes the doubles, and also the Double Derringer and the little Model 4 and Model 6 single shot rimfire rifles? The Model 4, Model 6, and the Double Derringer are in later Remington-UMC and Remington Arms Co., Inc. catalogues!

Yes there is a 1909 catalog that shows the complete line including the 1894 and 1900 shotguns. I have an original and it is 64 pages. Jay Huber RSA

Thanks Jay. Has anyone had any luck finding a 1900 catalogue yet?

Last spring I picked up an 1899 Catalogue at the Colorado Gun Show. Shortly after that there were several Remington Arms Co. catalogues up on ebay, including an 1899 that appeared in the pictures to have a single insert page showing a break open gun. I've wondered if that might not have been the introduction of the Model 1900? I bid, but not too aggressively, having just gotten the 1899 catalogue at Denver.

My 1899 catalog has no such insert and I have never seen one. The first place the 1900 K model appears in my catalogs is the 1901 issue, Jay

I don't have the insert in my 1899 catalogue either. I'm just speculating from the picture in that ebay auction. My 1901 catalogue just describes the K- and KED-Grades but doesn't seem to make any big deal about them being a new offering. Then again, the catalogues don't call the guns Model 1894s or 1900s, just the Remington Hammerless Gun in the various grades. The parts lists are the only place they are differentiated as Model 1894 and Model 1900?!?!
