Your gun is a Remington Repeating Shotgun. The gun wasn't called the Model No. 10 until after Marcellus Hartley Dodge combined his firearms and ammunition companies as Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. in 1911. The Remington Repeating Shotgun was introduced in the 1908-09 Remington Arms Co. catalogue --

So, your gun was made between 1908 and early 1911. Can't tell anything closer.

Remington Arms Co. was playing around with this John D. Pedersen designedpump gun for a few years before they offered it to the general public. Here is a 25 May 1907 picture of noted shooter Frank Riehl holding one --

and here is a sketch of a shooter with one in the second 1906 Remington Arms Co. catalogue --

The barrel date codes were not introduced until 1921. The old "between the Wars" factory ledger began September 30, 1919, and shows Model 10 serial numbers at 172939 on that date. Pretty sure your gun was made during the teens, and that RP on your barrel is Remington Proof. What is the company name on the gun? The company became Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. in 1911. They incorporated during 1916, and it became Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co., Inc. In order to deal with their over-expansion for War production during The Great War, the company had to reorganize and became Remington Arms Co., Inc. during 1920.
