NIPPLE WRENCH, 1858, .36 cal

Post by Cav Stihl »

:x Problem with nipple wrench. I purchased a small and a large nipple wrench from "Dixie Gun Works" for 2 newly purchased Pietta 1858 Remies in .36 cal. The small wrench (has MSM logo with a groove around the tube) spread apart and chipped on the corners, the first time I used it. This is on a new cylinder, I did not have to apply much torque for it to break. So I used the large wrench to finish the job. The large wrench did not spread, but the corners did chip a little. I will be using these Remies for Cowboy Action Shooting. So the nipples will be removed for cleaning frequently. I can not have my nipple wrenches breaking all the time. Where can I get a higher quality nipple wrench? Note: I have not fired these Remies yet, but they appear to be of good quality, fit and finish. Anyone have recommendations as to how many grains of powder I should use for CAS?
