I recently inherited this nice gun.
I am sure it has not been fired in probably 50 years.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how to determine if this rifle is usable?
Also, any idea where to find ammo assuming it is usable?
Remington 32 Model 4 Rolling Block
I agree that you should have a qualified gunsmith check it out. And, yes, you can find some .32 rf ammo if you look hard enough. It is not plentiful or cheap. There are another options though.
This will probably bring some outcries of indignation and curses to my name, but I have converted my #4 Rollingblock in .32 rimfire to centerfire and chambered it for the 32-20 Win. I did the same to my .25 rimfire and chambered it to the 25-20 Win. These rifles are much too enjoyable to shoot to leave in the safe. Another option would be to have it relined to .22 long rifle.
