Hello,
I know this may be a little out of the realm of this forum, but I’m hopeful someone can help. I have a Remington 1903-A3 surplus rifle that my father purchased in the 1950’s. I also have a Lyman Alaskan 7/8 inch diameter tube scope on a Griffin & Howe rings and detachable base which my father brought back from WWII. He had removed it from a sniper rifle while in Germany. I don’t know if he removed it from an M1 or a 1903-A3. I am missing the base that mounts to the rifle. I would like to mount this scope on my 1903-A3. I would like it to be as authentic as possible. Any ideas as to where I might find a base? Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Scope mount for a Lyman Alaskan on a 1903-A3
G&H mount base
Try Griffin & Howe they still produce the mount. I have one on my 03 that was modified for Alaskan trail use by Les Womack. Barrel and all wood and hardware has been cut to accomodate 16" barrel. Front barrel band sight base replaced and new HIGH sourdough blade installed. 3 position winchester style safety installed. Bolt modified for scope, Timney trigger,Lyman Alaskan scope in G&H side mount. Small compass set in left side of butt stock. Even came with an old plastic tube ( that the fixer goop for Poloroid prints came in) in the cleaning cavity under the trap buttplate completey full of kitchen matches. All in all a very nice old 03 by Remington.
