Remington 700 Carbine in 350 Mag

I recently purchased an older model 700 in 350 mag. I've been able to determine that it was made in 1969, it's a BDL model and that it has an 18 1/2 barrel. My question is about the stock. The forend of the stock is missing, so is it safe to presume that it had a black plastic tip at one time? Also, did it have a white space with the tip? There is no white spacer at the pistol grip. What type of finish should there be on the stock? Currently the finish is satin. Does anyone have a pic of what the stock should look like? Thanks for any help provided.
